Day 5: Sacred Sites Tour

  • Depart Hvammsvík at 8:00 AM – We head west into a landscape where time stretches wide. Volcanic activity, mythic sagas, and glacial forces have shaped both land and lore.

  • Borgarnes – A Viking-age town  on the edge of the fjord with strong historical roots and cinematic beauty featured in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

  • Mt. Helgafell – A silent hike up this “Holy Mountain” believed to grant wishes. A place where geology meets quiet personal ritual

  • Ólafsvík – Lunch in a peaceful harbor town with sweeping glacier views

  • Djúpalónssandur Beach – A haunting black pebble shoreline with scattered shipwreck remnants and the roar of the North Atlantic (image above)

  • Lóndrangar & Mt. Stapafell – Volcanic rock formations once believed to house protectors of the land. These geological features rise near Snæfellsjökull, the glacier-volcano setting of Journey to the Center
    of the Earth

  • Snæfellsjökull Glacier – Often considered one of Earth’s great energetic centers. Visible for much of the afternoon and long revered for its mystique

  • Arnarstapi – A cliffside village rich in both Icelandic folklore and seismic history. We settle here for the night

  • Evening – Group dinner, storytelling, and optional Northern Lights viewing depending on conditions

Day 6: Sacred Site Tour

  • Depart Arnarstapi at 9:00 AM – Today we follow Iceland’s elemental threads. Geothermal forces, glacial runoff, and cultural memory are all written into steam, rock, and flow.

  • Arnarstapi Harbor Walk – Begin with a mindful walk along lava-carved cliffs and sea arches

  • Búðir Black Church – An iconic structure surrounded by mossy lava fields. Simple, stark, and atmospheric (image above)

  • Scenic Coastline Drive – Spot seals along the shore and view the Snaefellsjökull glacier at a new angle

  • Settlers Museum – Explore Iceland’s human history through immersive storytelling and regional cuisine

  • Borgarnes –  Lunch in a fjordside town where Iceland’s saga spirit still feels close. This is the homeland of Egill Skallagrímsson, the legendary Viking poet-warrior, and the landscape here carries that old-world storybook energy.

  • Deildartunguhver – Europe’s most powerful hot spring. Nearly boiling water bursts from the Earth at over 180 liters per second

  • Hraunfossar & Barnafossar – Two waterfalls shaped by lava and glacier melt. One wide and graceful, the other narrow and fast steeped in legend

  • Fosshotel Reykholt – Check in and soak in geothermal baths under the open sky in a village once home to Iceland’s most famous historian

  • Evening – Group dinner and optional aurora viewing if conditions allow

Day 7: Sacred Sites Tour

  • Depart Reykholt at 9:00 AM – Our final day brings us to the heart of Iceland’s tectonic and cultural legacy.
A space for integration, observation, and return.

  • Thingvellir National Park – Walk between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates and visit the site of Iceland’s first parliament founded in 930 AD.

  • Scenic Drive – Follow the path of early settlers through valleys carved by glaciers and rivers

  • Matkráinn Restaurant – A final Nordic-style group lunch. Space to pause, reflect, and share

  • Curated Local Shops – Before we return to Reykjavík, we’ll make a relaxed stop at a few handpicked local boutiques so you can bring a little Iceland home with you. Think small-batch skincare made from Icelandic botanicals, Nordic design pieces, local wool and cozy layers, and gifts that feel special without screaming “tourist shop.” Tristan curates the stops so it is easy, beautiful, and worth your time.

  • Return to Reykjavík around 3:00 pm – Final drop-off at Hotel Reykjavik Saga. You can choose to stay at the Saga hotel, or a nearby hotel (many within walking distance), or take a late flight home.

A note about weather and itinerary:  Iceland’s beauty comes with a bit of unpredictability, especially October, when daylight is limited and weather can change quickly. We’ve created a thoughtful itinerary, but we may adjust along the way to stay safe and make the most of the experience. No matter the route, it will be incredible. We’re traveling with one of Iceland’s most trusted local guides, and you’ll be in expert hands every step of the way.

Accommodations

Hvammvík Hot Springs

For four nights, we’ll live at Hvammsvík, an extraordinary hot springs retreat where the water meets the sea. Eight natural pools, geothermal steam, and wild Whale Fjord views make it feel like Iceland’s best-kept secret. Add chef-prepared meals, an on-property bistro, and the kind of quiet that resets you fast.

What Past Retreat Attendees Say...

"This retreat was powerful; a process allowing me to feel the strength, inspiration, safety, and trust to feel the joy I've been waiting to feel. There was fear and disempowerment that needed to be burned away to make room and space for that joy and I’m grateful to the process, guides (Tristan Gribbin and Peter Sterios), and new trusted friends, for the space to reach that state. A deep gratitude resonates from this experience into all that I do.” - Kellie P.
